The 11th Joint OECD Korea Policy Centre – APNHAN Meeting was held on the 2-3 September 2015 in Seoul, Korea. The Technical Workshop for Regional Health Accounts Experts mainly discussed updates on health accounts activities at WHO and OECD and results of a study on measuring expenditure on pharmaceutical and preventive care in the Asia/Pacific region. This was followed by the Meeting of Regional Health Accounts Experts which comprised of thematic based discussions on SHA 2011 migration issues and expenditure by disease distribution, Health expenditure projection in Korea, Health at a Glance-Asia/Pacific 2016 edition and the status of regional health accounts data collection. Meeting attendees comprised of representatives from OECD Korea Policy Centre, OECD headquarters, WHO, WHO/WPRO and APNHAN network members.

The 10th Joint OECD Korea Policy Centre – APNHAN Meeting was held on the 11th -12th of June 2014 in Busan, Korea. The Technical Workshop for Regional Health Accounts Experts mainly discussed updates on SHA 2011 and current projects on implementation. This was followed by the APNHAN Meeting of Regional Health Accounts Experts which comprised of presentations on the status of regional health accounts data collection, updates to the SHA Green Paper series, Health at a Glance-Asia/Pacific 2014 edition, and recent country developments. Meeting attendees comprised of representatives from OECD Korea Policy Centre, OECD headquarters, WHO, WHO/WPRO and APNHAN network members.

The 7th joint OECD Korea Policy Centre – APNHAN meeting was held on the 28th -29th of June, 2011 in Seoul, Korea. The Technical Workshop for Regional Health Accounts Experts entailed discussions on the new SHA 2011 followed by presentations on experience of implementing SHA 2011 in Korea and Japan. This was followed by the APNHAN Meeting of Regional Health Accounts Experts which comprised of updates to the SHA Green Papers series, developments of the Pacific Islands NHA Institutionalization, status of the regional health accounts data collection and recent country developments. The 6th joint OECD Korea Policy Centre – APNHAN meeting was held on the 13-14th of July in Seoul. The first half-day was dedicated to a technical workshop focusing on Health at a Glance – Asia/Pacific draft publication and private health expenditure and financing indicators. The next one and a half days was the official meeting and focused on the revisions of SHA, PNMCH sponsored MNCH expenditures, the status of NHA in the region and the regional health accounts database, NHA in the Pacific and other new collaborative projects, upcoming meetings in the current year and future plans for the group. Over 53 officials attended the meeting from the OECD Korea Policy Centre, OECD headquarters, WHO and the APNHAN network members.

The meeting was hosted by the OECD Korea Policy Centre in collaboration with APNHAN. The first half day of the sessions was a technical workshop dedicated to private health expenditure work. The next one and a half days was the official meeting and focussed on the revisions of SHA, the status of NHA in the region and the regional health accounts database, the next round of data collection, the green paper project, Health at a Glance project, development and institutionalisation of NHA in the Pacific and other new collaborative projects, disease accounts work, upcoming meetings in the current year and future plans for the group. The meetings was attended by over 50 officials from the ILO, AIHW, OECD Korea Policy Centre, OECD head quarters, WHO and the APNHAN network members and had the widest coverage in terms of participating nations since the inception of he network.

The 4th meeting of the Regional Center for Health and Social Policy together with APNHAN was held once again in Seoul, Korea. The first half day of the sessions was a technical workshop on the Framework for Accounting Health and Social Expenditures on Long-term Care followed by a presentation on the links between the System of Health Accounts (SHA) and the System of National Accounts (SNA). The next two days were the official meeting and focussed on the revisions of SHA, the status of SHA in the Asia Pacific Region, Disease accounts work and future plans. The meetings was attended by officials from the RCHSP, OECD, WHO, WB, GTZ and the APNHAN network members.

In succession to the previous two meetings, the Regional Center for Health and Social Policy together with APNHAN held its third meeting in Seoul, Korea. A Technical Workshop for Regional Health Accounts Experts were held prior to the main meeting at the same venue. The meetings were attended by officials from the RCHSP, OECD, WHO, UNESCAP and the APNHAN network members.

The meeting was hosted by the OECD/Korea RCHSP and organised jointly with APNHAN.
The main objectives of the meeting were:

  • Deepen understanding of the health accounts process in each country through national expert presentations
  • Review the status of results from the international data collection efforts.
  • Discuss collaboration amongst partners for initiatives to strengthen national and regional capacity building
  • Present and discuss draft "green papers" on the SHA implementation in several countries

This was a joint meeting of regional health accounts experts and country representatives and agencies interested in the further development of health accounts in the region, and future coordination of health accounts data reporting. It was hosted by the new OECD/Korea Regional Center for Health and Social Policy. A key issue on the agenda was to discuss on how to better coordinate annual data collection exercises conducted by various international agencies of national health expenditure data.

Equitap Final Conference
Kandalama, Sri Lanka; 15-18 March 2005
The network’s Equitap project held its final end-of-project conference in Kandalama, to present and discuss its the results, as well as plan future work. The conference was attended by with a mix of researchers and policy-makers from more than fifteen countries, and representatives of WHO.

Fifth Meeting of the Asia-Pacific NHA Network
Colombo, Sri Lanka; 13-14 March 2005
Building on the successful experience of previous region-wide meetings, APNHAN held in Colombo this fifth gathering of regional NHA experts. Attended by representatives from 17 territories, WHO and UNAIDS, participants updated each other with news of progress in developing health accounts in several countries, shared experience in two technical and methodological areas, and received a proposal by UNAIDS for future collaboration in the area of HIV/AIDS accounts.
