Hong
Kong developed and reported its first set of Domestic Health
Accounts (DHA1) in 1998 as part of a consultancy to review the
local
health system, carried out by the Institute of Policy Studies,
Sri
Lanka under contract to the Harvard School of Public Health. The
University of Hong Kong (HKU) was commissioned by the Health,
Welfare
and Food Bureau (HWFB) in 2003 to update these accounts for fiscal
years 1997/98 to 2001/02 (DHA2) and in addition, retrospectively
updated DHA1 estimates for the years 1989/90 to 1996/97, making
13
years' series of OECD SHA compatible health accounts. The next
DHA
(DHA3) which covers years 2002/03 to 2004/05 is being prepared
by HKU
and is expected to be available in year 2007.
